My Why.

To create is joy… it’s a part of my very soul.

I’ve always created. Always gotten excited by a blank, white canvas and a tray full of paint just waiting to be applied…. creating something from nothing.

I am a self-taught artist from Newfoundland, Canada. Living on an island in the North Atlantic leads to much inspiration from the ocean, the natural landscape, and the simple joys in life, like my family, my fur babies, and watching the sun sink into the water.

I have painted professionally for fifteen years while we raised our two children. My earlier works have been published in Collectables Canada Magazine and purchased by collectors across Canada and internationally.

Life’s challenges often push us to places we didn’t expect, and sometimes it feels like we’re crashing—only to realize, after some time, that we’ve actually been moving forward, aligning more closely with our true selves. For me, painting took a backseat to my career in Healthcare for several years, and I felt parts of my authentic self slowly fading away.

Through a series of unexpected events and caring for my mother in her final years I was forced to make changes in my career path, and I rediscovered that part of me… my painting. My Making Waves Series reflects this journey back to my true self. It wasn’t until I finished the first piece, “Crashing Forward,” that I understood— maybe I was actually crashing forward on a path that aligned more with my authentic self, leading me back to a place of fulfillment and purpose in my work.

In life, I find peace, clarity, and inspiration in the simplest of things: being surrounded by nature, spending time with loved ones, standing near the ocean, and immersing myself in my studio. When others experience my art, I hope they feel that same sense of peace and clarity. Most of all, I wish for my work to bring you joy and a quiet sense of connection.

My painting took a back burner when I decided to change things up and take a career in healthcare for 10 years. During those 10 years, I never picked up a paint brush, and I felt my authentic self slowly slipping away.  My Wave Series encompasses my journey of finally finding my way back to my authentic self. It was not until I completed my first piece in that series, “Crashing Forward”, that I truly realized this was my compass guiding me in a direction back to feeling fulfilled in my work.

I find the most peace, clarity, and inspiration in the little things in life… being surrounded by nature and my loved ones, standing near the ocean, and time in my studio. When collectors look at my art, I want them to feel that same sense of peace and clarity… and above all, I hope my art brings you joy!

About My Artwork.

Most of my work fall somewhere between impressionism and realism, though I love to mix it up with some abstract realism and different mediums. Nature’s usually my muse, and the ocean holds a special place in my heart. There’s something about the way the waves form shapes, the seafoam creates textures, and the lines that give a sense of movement—it feels like the perfect spot where realism meets abstraction.

I typically paint large originals on gallery-wrapped, archival canvas using heavy-body acrylics, water-soluble oils, and mixed media to build texture and depth. Sometimes I like to switch things up with pure oil paint or even dive into resin art.

If you are not in the market for an original, I create hand embellished limited edition canvas prints. I individually add texture by hand to each limited edition canvas. All of my paintings are also available in open edition canvas prints and large scale metal prints.

When I start a piece, I’ll sketch out the basic composition with a brush, blocking in the main colors and shapes. Then, I layer on more color and texture, playing around with different brushes, palette knives, and even my fingers (yep, it gets a little messy!). I love leaving texture in my paintings, so you can actually feel the artwork when you touch it.

With each painting, my goal is to create a piece that people can feel a connection to the meaning behind the work— to create something that brings joy and meaning to those who collect it.

“ If you want to find yourself… get lost in nature.”
